A few kilometres from the town of Soriano, in the hamlet of Chia, stands this majestic tower which dominates what remains of the ancient castle of Colle Casale. With a height of 42 metres and an original pentagonal plan, the tower had the function of lookout, defence and communication with the Orsini Castle in Soriano.

The tower of Chia is situated in an evocative and timeless place, where you can admire the traces of the Etruscan populations that have lived here. The director Pier Paolo Pasolini was fascinated by the magical atmosphere that surrounds this place, so much so that in the seventies he decided to buy the Tower and transform it into his second home.
An ideal place for a day of nature and relaxation
At the foot of the tower is the Fosso Castello gorge, with the water making its way rapidly via magnificent cascades and leaps amongst the dense vegetation and gigantic peperino boulders that testify to the area’s volcanic nature.
This immense historical and environmental heritage is the ideal place to spend a day in nature and relaxation. For those who want to venture out and rediscover the traces of a distant past, there are fantastic trails that wander among what remains of the ancient Etruscan dwellings and the medieval castle.
